Die schöne Karte zeigt Dalmatien und den Golf von Venetien. Handkolorierte Grenzlinien geben die Herrschaftsverhältnisse wieder. Links unten befindete sich eine von Putten gesäumte Kartusche mit königlichem Privileg aus dem Jahr 1664. Sie nennt neben dem Titel "Coste de Dalmacie", auch den Autor Nicolas Sanson, der den Druck im Verlagshaus von Pierre Mariette anfertigen ließ.

The Gulf of Venice and Dalmatian. Next to the title "Coste de Dalmacie" is the engravers name Nicolas Sanson who worked at the publishing house of Pierre Mariette. Nicolas Sanson (1600-1667) is from Northern France and around 1640 he moved to Paris, where he founded a school of cartography. Today he is considered the most important and prolific French cartographer of the 17th Century, who helped to establish cartography in France and to challenge the dominance of Dutch cartography in this period. Seasons first atlas "L'Oreal" was published in 1648. From 1652 he moved to a folio format. Overall, he published over 300 maps of which 143 he personally engraved. One of his most important works of the World Atlas "Carters generals De touts less parties du monde", a collection of at least 113 maps.
