A rare and detailed map of Persia, divided into colored provinces. Petrus/Pieter Schenk published this in 1722. It has a large title cartouche and a small uncolored vignette. A classical boy carves the title on the bottom left hand side. Petrus Schenk I (1661-1711) was a cartographer, engraver and publisher working primarily in Amsterdam. In 1683 together with his father in lay Gerard Valck (1652-1726) Petrus bought the copper plates from renown cartographer William Blaeu. These were used to publish the atlas "Atlas Contractus” between 1695 and 1705.
